My 2nd 'Great Escape' adventure to Southern Utah for Spring Break. This is only my 2nd year doing photography and I am starting to amaze myself with what I can pull off.
This was a 9-day, 1600 mile loop around Lake Powell from Phoenix. About 800 miles driven were off road. The only goal to get away and photograph some of the most beautiful places the world has to offer.
I came home with over 28 gigs of photos, some 7,500 frames.
Here I present some of my finest captures.

Your Mothers Violent Past
In the Coyote Buttes area. Taken about 20 seconds before it started to snow. Cold and windy but damn it was beautiful!!!!!!!!
This is a 2 vertical HDR frame stitch- one of my favs. Brains, Waves, Teepees, clouds, colors. A lot going on here. Would really like to hear what you think - seems my favorites aren't always yours....
In the Coyote Buttes area. Taken minutes before a nice snowstorm.
Note- this is not an HDR image, it looks much better unprocessed than otherwise. It is however a stitch of 4 vertical shots. The original is very high resolution and will...
That golden hour of sunset, and what a place to see it. Was hard to pick the shot - there was so much good material in every direction. I shot over 200 frames in less than three hours.
One of those little unplanned side trips. We took a random road off the Cottonwood Canyon trail and from and overlook I said "Hey! That looks like a slot canyon from here..."
Well, turns out it wasn't a slot, but was a fun little canyon to...
Not really happy with the what this one came out, but I gotta keep uploading. I only have like 4,000 more images to process from the Great Escape 2....
I had no business taking this photo - it was almost fully dark on the ground, but the sky lit up for a brief moment as I was out fossil hunting. Good thing I had my tripod. I really like this photo, glad it turned out!!

Sunrise on the Badlands
Taken near our capsite at Muddy Creek. On the top of this hill I found a layer about 5 feet thick full of fossils. Hard to imagine this was the bottom of an ocean millions and millions of years ago.
Our little side trip to Molly's Castle just outside Goblin Valley State Park. This was a fairly interesting 4x4 trail - lots of deep sand...

Canyonlands in Panoramic Black and White
I almost trashed this photo - the colors were too muted and drab, but then I tried to just forget color all together. Here is the result. I really enjoy doing these panorama shots.

Gooseberry is one of the campsites on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands.
